Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Message
to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Earthquake in Central Java

1. On 26 May 2007, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the May 27th Earthquake in Central Java, Prime Minster Shinzo Abe sent a message to the President of Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dr. H. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.




2. In his message, Prime Minister Abe renewed his deep condolences to the victims of the disaster, and expressed his respect to the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts of the Government and people of Indonesia. He also noted with satisfaction that Japanese cooperation had contributed to the early recovery of the affected areas in Central Java. He conveyed his determination to further develop the longstanding friendly relationship between the two countries, which will march the 50th anniversary since its establishment next year by actively conducting cooperation in variety of areas including disaster mitigation.




3. Mr. Satoru Satoh, Charge d’affaires of Japan to the Republic of Indonesia, as well as representatives of Japan’s related institutions, will attend the commemoration ceremony to be held by the Government of Indonesia in Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta on 26 May.
