Railway Double Tracking Of Cikampek-Cirebon Project (II)

Period (Date of Loan Agreement):
January 28, 1998

Place:
West Java

Amount Provided:
8,748 million Yen

Executing Agency:
Directorate General of Railway (DGR), Ministry of Transportation

Key Points:
Improving train service and safety by double tracking from Cikampek to Cirebon in Java North Line

Outline:
In the Cikampek-Cirebon section of Java North Line, an arterial line connecting Jakarta and Surabaya, the number of trains running on the single track line exceeded its capacity, because this section also carried trains in Java South Line. This resulted in limited train service and significant delays. The objective of the project is to improve this situation by double tracking the Cikampek-Cirebon section, thereby putting more trains into service, while ensuring safety, high-speed and on-schedule train operation. The double-tracking work was completed in August 2007.
