Scholarship of Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho Scholarship for High School Graduates

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (Monbukagakusho) offers scholarships to Indonesian high school graduates who wish to study at University (S-1); College of Technology (D-3) or Special Training College (D-2) in Japan for the academic year 2006 (April 2006). An applicant can only apply for one program, either S-1, D-3 or D-2.

Applicants must have the following qualifications (among others);

  1. Applicants must be less than 22 years of age as of April 1, 2006.

  2. The average result of the final examination (STK) and school report for the last semester/term of the third scholastic year must be at a minimum;
        8.0 for applicants who are interested in taking the S-1 program,
        7.7 for applicants who are interested in taking the D-3 program,
        7.2 for applicants who are interested in taking the D-2 program.
    note: In the case that an official STK can not be issued by the closing date (July 8, 2005), a temporary STK which is certified by the head teacher will be accepted (for graduates of 2005).

  3. Applicants must have graduated from a senior high school.

Application forms are available free of charge for those who meet the above qualifications at the Embassy of Japan (Education Section:08:30-12:00, 14:00-15:30), the Consulate General of Japan in Surabaya, Medan and Makassar starting from May 26th, 2005.

Application forms may be sent to those who are living outside of JABODETABEK and who fulfill the above requirements. Interested persons must send a request (name, date of birth, address, phone number, desired program (S-1, D-3 or D-2) and 3 desired fields of study are required) to the Embassy of Japan by fax (021-3192-4820) or by post (Jl. M.H.Thamrin 24, Jakarta Pusat 10350) along with their copies of STK, school report and certificate (STTB). The embassy must receive all requests for application forms by June 24, 2005.

The completed application must be submitted to the Embassy of Japan (the Consulate Generals of Japan will not accept the documents) with the STK, school report and STTB by July 8, 2005. Applicants who pick up the forms in person at the Embassy must submit the completed form within 3 days. In the case that the result of the final examination has not been released at the time of submission, the STK and STTB must be submitted to the Embassy as soon as it is released.
