1. The Government of Japan has decided to send experts and medical materials to support strengthening counter-measures against Avian Influenza (AI). Three experts of laboratory diagnosis, will arrive in Indonesia on 26 October, together with the first batch of medical materials.

2. Japan is preparing for sending more experts to Indonesia in area such as i) surveillance, ii) laboratory diagnosis and iii) clinical management.

3. In Indonesia, after the first death case due to AI infection was confirmed in July 2005, seven cases, out of which four were dead, have been confirmed by WHO, and more than eighty suspected cases are reported to be under observation.
