Jakarta, May 27, 2006 1. In response to the Earthquake that struck Central Java in the morning of May 27, the Government of Japan has decided to dispatch a Disaster Relief Advance Team to Indonesia. The team, composed of seven members including officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), doctors and nurses, is scheduled to leave Japan and arrive at Jakarta on May 28, 2006. 2. Also, the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia and JICA office in Jakarta will send their officials to the affected area starting from May 28 with a view to grasping the situation in the field and to making preparations for further assistance from Japan. 3. The Japanese Government will consider the possibility of further assistance based on the situation in the field and the request from the Indonesian Government. |
