Technical Cooperation for Community Empowerment Program with Civil Society in Indonesia

Outline:
The community development technical cooperation project participated by civil society (PKPM), which started from January 2004, which is aimed at the local administrators, NGOs and communities in 10 provinces to deepen the understanding of the community development promoted by the project and widening the knowledge with regard to participation type development through on-site training (ICT), seminars, workshops, trainings including Japan Mission, Good Practice Case Search (GPCS), pilot activities and so forth. The project also involved the administrators of the central government, namely those of BAPPENAS and SETNEG, the administrators of the 10 provinces in subject as well as regency government administrators and NGO staff.

In 2005, activities prioritizing to enhance the technology and knowledge (capacity development) necessary for these local communities to take actions spontaneously were carried out, and in Marino in South Sulawesi Province, Lombok in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Gorontalo Privince, Southeast Sulawesi Province and Central Sulawesi Province, community activities of these regions (pilot activity) were implemented by regency administrators and NGO staff who participated in the activity.

It is necessary that BAPPENAS, the counterpart, increases the participation of local organizations of each area and improves cooperation system that has been cultivated through these PKPM activities and establish those efforts institutionally.
