Jakarta, 26 February 2007 Demonstration and Seminar on "Japan's Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial (ISDB-T) Technologies" in Indonesia
[Bahasa Indonesia]
1. | Objective
Mr. Yoshihide Suga, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan and Dr. Sofyan A. Djalil, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Republic of Indonesia had a meeting on 10 January and agreed that Japanese experts and equipment would be dispatched to Indonesia for demonstration and seminar of ISDB-T including mobile TV reception by cellular phone. It is expected that this demonstration and seminar would contribute to the development of digital TV in Indonesia. |
2. | Outstanding Features of ISDB-T
Economy : | Broadcasters do not need additional investment for portable TV reception using a cellular phone since fixed HDTV reception and portable TV reception can be operated by means of one transmitter and one channel. |
Mobility : | HDTV can be projected to vehicles with the newly adapted ISDB-T technology which other DTV systems are not capable of doing. |
Emergency : | Emergency Warning System (EWS) can be operated for not only fixed reception in the home but also by mobile phone outside. In the case of an emergency (natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunami etc.), the mobile phones and TV sets anywhere will be automatically switched on and receive emergency alert or messages. The emergency alert and messages can be disseminated to all the receivers at the same time quite efficiently.. |
