Jakarta, 23 March 2007 Japan to Provide Yen Loan Assistance to Indonesia (Continuing Support for Economic and Fiscal Reform)

The Government of Japan has decided to provide Yen Loan assistance to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, totaling up to ¥23.554 billion (approximately US$202.55 million or Rp1.867trillion) for the Third Development Policy Loan and the Infrastructure Reform Sector Development Program in order to support its efforts for economic and social development.
Notes to this effect were exchanged on March 23 in Jakarta between Mr. Shin Ebihara, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Indonesia, and H.E. Mr. Primo Alui Joelianto, Director General for Asia Pacific and African Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
The project titles and maximum amounts are as follows;
(1) “Third Development Policy Loan”       (¥ 11.777 billion, approximately US$ 101.27million or 933.65 Rp billion)
(2) “Infrastructure Reform Sector Development Program”       (¥ 11.777 billion, approximately US$ 101.27million or 933.65 Rp billion)
The outlines of the projects are as follows;
(1)   | Third Development Policy Loan
This loan aims to support reform efforts of the Government of Republic of Indonesia including the areas of macroeconomic stability, investment climate, governance, poverty alleviation in the form of co-financing with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) *note 1. |
(2) | Infrastructure Reform Sector Development Program This loan aims to support reform efforts of the Government of Republic of Indonesia to accelerate infrastructure development in the form of co-financing with the Asian Development Bank (ADB)*note 2 |
Loan conditions are as follows; (1) Annual interest rate: 1.5%
(2) Repayment period: 30 years (including a grace period of 10 years)
(3) Procurement condition: General untied loan

IBRD and ADB have decided to extend US$ 600 million (Third Development Policy Operation) and US$ 200 million (Second Development Policy Support Program) respectively in December 2006.. |
*note 2 : | The Infrastructure Reform Sector Development Program :
ADB has decided to extend US$ 400 million under the Infrastructure Reform Sector Development Program in November, 2006. |
