Japan to Provide Yen Loan Assistance to Indonesia
(Continuing Support for Economic and Fiscal Reform)

1. The Government of Japan has decided to provide Yen Loan assistance to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, totaling up to ￥22.08 billion (approximately US$200 million) for the Fourth Development Policy Loan in order to support its efforts for economic and social development.
       Notes to this effect were exchanged on March 18 in Jakarta between H.E.Mr. Shin Ebihara, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Indonesia, and H.E. Mr. Imron Cotan, Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

   The program title and maximum amount are as follows;
           “Fourth Development Policy Loan”
            (¥ 22.08 billion, approximately US$200 million)

   
   

2. The outline of the project;
       This loan aims to support reform efforts of the Government of Republic of Indonesia including the areas of macroeconomic stability, investment climate, governance, poverty alleviation in the form of co-financing with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
       Japan-Indonesia Economic Partnership Agreement signed by leaders of both countries in August last year is expected to enter into force soon. Further improvement of investment climate in Indonesia is indispensable for promoting trade and investment from Japan

   
   

3. Conditions of the loan are as follows;
           (1) Annual interest rate: 0.7%
           (2) Repayment period: 15 years (including a grace period of 5 years)
           (3) Procurement condition: General untied loan
