Jakarta, 23 June 2010 Signing Ceremony for the Exchange of Notes for Climate Change Program Loan (III) to the Republic of Indonesia

The Government of Japan has decided to extend to the Republic of Indonesia a Japanese ODA loan of up to 27.195 billion JPY for Climate Change Program Loan (III) to support Indonesia’s climate change policy. A signing ceremony for exchange of notes was held on June 23 (Wed) in Jakarta, Indonesia between H.E. Mr. Kojiro Shiojiri, Ambassador of Japan to Indonesia, and Mr. T. M. Hamzah Thayeb, Director General for Asia Pacific and African Affairs, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. |

Outline of the Project
The Program Loan supports Indonesia’s climate change policy (responding to key policy issues of climate change, mitigation of global warming by carbon absorption and emission reduction, and strengthening adaptability to bad effects of climate change) through policy dialogue. |

Terms and conditions of the loan
(1) Interest rate:0.15% per annum
(2) Repayment period:15 years (including a five-year grace period)
(3) Procurement method: general untied |

Additional information
Through policy dialogue under the Program Loan, the Government of Japan has decided to provide grant aid of 2 billion JPY for forest preservation and improvement of capabilities to cope with natural disasters last March. Furthermore, the Government of Japan will start from this July JICA Technical Cooperation Project including integrating NAMA and NAPA into National Development Planning, Vulnerability Assessment and National GHG Inventory, which will be estimated at approximately 1 billion JPY.
